MALAY's debut album Spitmarks on the Mirror hit UK shops on April 30th 2001 to outstanding reviews.  The Mirror described the album as a "straight-off-the-bat minor classic" and Blues and Soul describe Malay as possessing "Nitin Sawhney's instrumental diversity and dexterity, Sly Stone's, er... stoned slyness, Lennon's vision and Prince's sass"
